Syringe Service Programs

Syringe Service Programs (SSPs, also known as Engagement and Overdose Prevention Hubs in Los Angeles County) play an important role inpreventing, identifying, and treating HIV among people who inject drugs (PWID). EHE aims to expand the bandwidth of County-based and community-based partners offering syringe service programs to accelerate efforts to expand HIV testing, and linkage to HIV prevention or treatment services.

Prevent Pillar Strategies

PrEP and PEP Action Kit for Provider Visitation Campaign
  • This strategy aims to increase the number of medical providers in the County that prescribe PrEP. DHSP is working with medical providers to increase PrEP access and remove barriers to prescribing PrEP
Increase PrEP Access Points
  • COVID-19 has shown the need to increase telehealth options. By increasing the capacity of PrEP Centers of Excellence to integrate TelePrEP into their workflow, patients can reduce the number of in-office visits while continuing to receive high-quality care and remain on PrEP.
